How we fished for roach in the wire.

How we fished for roach in the wire - a story about exciting fishing on the river with a fast current, at shallow or medium depth, from a boat or from the shore.

Morning fishing

In the evening my friend and I began to prepare for the morning fishing. We got up early. All around was shrouded in predawn twilight, but in the east, above the horizon covering the horizon narrow blue cloud, already slightly marked a streak of dawn. Fishing Fishing from the shore

Time to go. Quiet, cool. The grass is blue from the abundant dew. We knock off the dew with our feet, and a long green strip remains behind us. On the opposite shore, wisps of gray mist hang over the water. From the shore woods comes the cuckoo's cuckooing. In the bushes on the island sing nightingales.

We are at the boat. We tie cords to the rocks. If there is no store bait, we make it ourselves from steamed oatmeal and wet clay - we roll balls. The chain rattles, and the boat, slightly creaking in the bollards, sails away. There are many fishermen on the river! Some are in boats, others are on the shore, others have waded above their knees into the water. All of them are fond of roach fishing.

We swim a little down the river and stop 40 meters from the shore, behind a wide strip of densely overgrown aquatic plants. We put the boat along the stream. From the bow we lower one stone-anchor on a cord, from the stern - another. Raise the oars on the sides. Throw the first balls with bait upstream. Oat grains washed out of them will attract fish standing downstream.

We each have one rod. A long rod with a reel and a long line. The hook is small, thin, sharp, the load is a large pellet. We determine the depth of the chosen place. It is a little more than 2 meters. At this depth we install floats, they are special, stable on the current. On the hooks we plant oparychis, 3-4 pieces or more. Puncture them at the blunt end, the sting of the hook lead outward.

With a strong movement of the rod, the bait is thrown as high upstream as possible and as far away from the boat as possible. Dragged away by the water, the bait moves along a more or less flat sandy bottom. The floats pass by quite quickly. We keep our eyes on them. As the float moves, the hand turns the rod. At the end of the bait's path, the fishing line tightens.

With a new movement of the rod we cast it back to its original position. And when the hook flies over the water, we look closely to see if there is bait on it. All around we hear splashes of playing fish. There are circles on the water surface. There are fish, but what will be the bite?

Roach fishing has begun

The roach fishing started before sunrise. Float jumped. A quick hooking, and the hand feels the bumping fish. It is shifted from the place is brought to the boat, brought into the net. And here is the first roach splashed in the cage. The bait is corrected and thrown again. Roach The roach is on the hook

Another bite! The friend has his first roach on the hook. He brings out the caught fish somewhat hastily.

- Don't get hot, don't be in a hurry.

The nibbles follow one after another, small and medium-sized roach are caught. There are also mayflies and redfins.

- The sun has risen!

On the left, between the trunks of linden trees standing on the hill, the sun disk appeared from behind the clouds, flooding everything with light. The calm surface of the river is like a huge mirror. It reflects green banks, blue sky with browned clouds and a hawk flying over the river. Swallows soar near the water, almost touching the ends of our rods.

A scattered flock of seagulls appeared, they dip down to the water, then rise. Life is waking up all around. A breeze ran, raised ripples on the river. The bite continued. Often roach pecked at the end of the bait movement. Sometimes, you pull the rod to throw the bait, and there is a fish on the hook.

A friend kept count of the fish he caught. Sometimes he would take the cage out of the water and look at the catch.

- Would it be over two pounds?

My friend was upset when a large roach was caught just off the side of the boat.

- When you bring the fish out, don't weaken the line.

Soon he hooked the roach on the side. It happens sometimes. You pull such a fish, and it seems that it is a big one, but when you pull it out, it turns out to be small. Such a deceptive feeling is created because the hooked fish goes sideways and meets a great resistance of water on its way.

The wind was getting stronger. The rising wave was hitting the side of the boat, rocking it, making noise. The catch sharply worsened. About 8 a.m. fishermen, with a good catch of roach, began to wrap up their rods. There will be something to tell friends about how we caught roach in wiring, because fishing today was successful.

It is not only a fascinating activity, but also sporting excitement with a good catch of fish.
